STEPS TO BECOME A TEAM CAPTAIN
Register your Team
- When you register as an individual, be sure to select "Create a Team."
- Use a team name that is easily identifiable.
- Select a fundraising goal that is reasonable and challenging.
Recruit Teammates
- Once you've registered your Walk Team on the website, you can either register individuals on your own profile page or ask individuals to register themselves by selecting your team name on their registration.
- All registration fees and funds gathered for your team will appear on your Walk Team page on the website so you can track your progress toward your goal.
Raise Funds and Awareness
- Encourage team members to attend Walk events.
- Host wrap-around events such as raffles, a chili cook-off, concerts, a book study of When Helping Hurts, or a lunch and learn where you can educate and recruit team members.
Visit Us
- We invite you to explore firsthand how Water Mission is fighting the global water crisis by touring our headquarters in North Charleston, S.C. During the tour, you'll see where volunteers build some of our filtration systems, photos from around the world, and examples of some of our implemented solutions—including a full-size Living Water Treatment System.
GET INSPIRED
Cathedral
Cathedral is both a church and a school that has participated in the Walk for several years. Throughout the year, team captains attend multiple Walk events, and the school participates in our Education Initiative program by bringing their entire 5th-grade class to Water Mission's global headquarters for a hands-on learning experience. Additionally, church leaders have gotten involved, and after taking a tour of our facility, they chose to become a Walk sponsor for the first time. In 2024, they became the largest Walk team in the history of the Walk with 338 registered walkers, raising more than $11,000 dollars to provide safe water and God's love to those in need.
GEL
GEL is an environmental business with a long-standing history with Water Mission and the Walk for Water. They have participated in every Walk since its inaugural year in 2007. In 2024, they were a gold-level sponsor. Additionally, they had 196 people join their team and raised more than $26,000 to provide safe water and God's love to those in need.
Mason Preparatory School
Team Captain, Hal Huser, teaches fifth grade at Mason Preparatory School and is a Volunteer Advocate for Water Mission. Using tools and resources from our Education Initiative program, he teaches lessons to his students about the global water crisis and Water Mission’s work around the world. He has inspired several of his students to create and execute their own fundraisers to support the Walk for Water. In 2024, they had 69 people join their team and raised nearly $7,000 to provide safe water and God's love to those in need.
