As many of you know, this is a cause that I am very passionate about. The need for clean water became a reality to me when I traveled around the world to the Fiji Islands in 2016. I quickly realized how much I take for granted. The missionary we were visiting explained that the tap water makes many visitors ill. In Fiji, tap water is brimming with bacteria and bottled water is impractically expensive. Even the immunity Fijians have built up from a lifetime of drinking barely filtered water does little to prevent disease and parasites. Just a little googling will lead you to statistics on the number of people who need easy access to clean water, not just the Fiji Islands.
During the Walk for Water, participants will experience a walk much like the one which many people around the world make daily to collect water as we work to raise money to work toward ending the global water crisis and raise awareness of its devastating effects.
Millions of women and children walk more than three miles to collect water each day for their families. Often, the water collected is unsafe to drink. But there is hope. This year, we will be walking to raise funds and awareness to help fight the global water crisis. Together, we will walk to bring clean, safe water to 15,000 people in need around the world.
I would love for you to join Water Mission (and me!) on April 13th for our annual Walk for Water! ♡
