2024 Walk for Water

March 23, 2024

General Walk FAQs

The Walk for Water will take place on March 23, 2024 at Riverfront Park in N. Charleston.
You can register as a Walk volunteer here
Some participant materials are available on the resource page. Additional materials and t-shirts will be available to pick up at Water Mission's global headquarters the week prior to the Walk and on Walk day at Riverfront Park.

Team materials will be available for captains to pick up 10:30 am - 6:00 pm on Tuesday or Wednesday, March 19-20.
We’ve created shareable resources to help you get others excited and invite your friends, family, and colleagues to walk with you. These easy-to-use materials include social media images and other downloadable items.

Then, during and after the Walk, be sure to post photos on social media, tag Water Mission, and use the hashtag #chswalkforwater. We even have GIFs to add to your Instagram stories (search for Water Mission in GIPHY). Telling others about your Walk experience is a way to keep advocating for your global neighbors and raising awareness.
While the Walk is an opportunity to help raise support for Water Mission’s efforts to put an end to the global water crisis, fundraising is not a requirement to participate. If you choose to partner with us in this way, you can find resources to raise funds here.
Generally, the following registration fees apply:
Adults (Ages 18 and up): $25
Youth (Ages 5-17): $10
Yes. You may add a child registration by selecting this option with your adult registration. All registered participants will receive a Walk for Water t-shirt. The smallest size available is a youth medium.
Yes! You may join a team through your personal page.
Please call Water Mission at +1.843.769.7395 or email walk@watermission.org.
Every contribution is considered a donation. We are unable to provide refunds.
When you arrive at Riverfront Park, follow the signs and join us for the opening ceremony. Following the kick-off, you will be directed to grab a bucket and begin walking so others don’t have to!
You can register the morning of the event at Riverfront Park. While we accept cash and checks, payment by card is preferred on Walk day.
We will have plenty of fun and games for all ages. During the Walk, you’ll carry an empty bucket for approximately 1.5 miles. You will then fill it with water and walk about 1.5 miles back to Riverfront Park. Along the route, you’ll learn about the global water crisis and experience stories from those Water Mission serves. Once you complete the route, you will empty your bucket into a pool of water that will be treated by Water Mission’s Living Water Treatment System. This will clean the water and make it safe for all purposes.

We encourage everyone to wear their Walk for Water t-shirts, sunscreen, and a pair of comfortable shoes. Please also dress appropriately for the weather. Together, we will walk so others don’t have to.

You can't enter a check online. What you can do is enter a check as a pledge. This can be done in the fundraising section of your personal page. The status of the check will be pending until the check is received by Water Mission.
