2024 Walk for Water-Durham

WHY WE WALK

Today, you’ll use water countless times—to drink, cook, shower, brush your teeth, and more—without worrying about whether the water is safe.

2 Bill_Why We Walk

Join us for the first Annual Walk for Water-Durham! During the Walk for Water, participants walk approximately 1.5 miles to a midway point with an empty bucket. There, they will fill their bucket with dirty water and carry it another 1.5 miles to the end of the Walk. By registering and walking, you can help provide over 400 people with safe, clean water.

This Walk is organized by Duke and UNC-Chapel Hill students driven to solve the global water crisis. Every day, millions of women and children worldwide walk more than three miles to collect water for their families. The only available water if often contaminated, exposing their families to dangerous waterborne diseases. But there is hope for clean water solutions! We walk, so others don't have to.

The Walk for Water-Durham will start at Duke University's East Campus and finish at the West Campus, a beautiful stroll under pine and willow trees in the peak of spring. Invite your family, friends and co-workers to do something incredible together!
