Cecilia is 12. Every morning, she walks more than a mile to collect water outside her community of Santa Clotilde, Peru. Cecilia wants to be a doctor when she grows up, but this daily task often causes her to miss school. She carries the weight of lost opportunity. She is why we walk.
The Walk for Water isn't a race. It's an opportunity to slow down and connect with the daily reality that millions of women and children face as they walk for water.
During the Walk for Water, you'll experience the weight of Cecilia's journey by walking approximately 1.5 miles to a midway point carrying an empty bucket. There, you will fill it with dirty water and carry it another mile to the finish.
When you walk, you're doing so much more than carrying a bucket of water. You are aligning yourself with a completely solvable global crisis and lifting the burdens of the world's most vulnerable people.
