Once again, it's time for the local Walk for Water. Saturday, Sept. 14 at the Live Oaks Park in Port Royal is the time and place... And - I think most of you know the routine - this is your opportunity to register on line, (order a t-shirt) or ...simply donate to this worthy cause!
Walk for Water is an international project (headquartered in Charleston) that promotes awareness of the global water crisis and raises money to build sustainable, safe drinking water facilities for the millions in need. Water for Water is also equipped to step into disaster areas where the need for clean water can be a matter of life and death. Starting last year, the local organizers started a second walk in Bluffton (to be held Sept. 210 so that even more folks could join in. Last year, we had 700 registered walkers who did the 3-mile walk carrying buckets of water to symbolize the daily routine faced by millions of women and children in developing countries. You can register by going online, clicking the WATER WOMEN team and help us reach our goal. Registration is $25 for adults 18 and older, with a $5 discount for those who register by Sept. 4 (just use the code EARLYBIRD) Beaufort County Walk for Water is also on Facebook, Instagram @BeaufortWalkfor Water and Twitter #bftwalkforwater. Thanks for your support....remember, we walk so others don't have to! Lolita
