Walk for Water is a community event benefiting Water Mission, a nonprofit organization working to bring safe water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions to communities around the world. Participants carry a bucket of water along a designated route to experience, in a small way, the daily journey millions of people make to collect water.
For millions of women and children around the world, collecting water is part of everyday life. They may walk miles each day to collect water that isn't always safe to drink. We walk in solidarity to raise awareness about the global water crisis and support Water Mission's work to help provide safe water.
The 3rd Annual Amelia Island Walk for Water will take place on Saturday, October 17, 2026.
The walk begins at Central Park in Fernandina Beach, continues down Atlantic Avenue to the ocean, where participants fill their buckets with water, and then returns to Central Park.

Yes! The bucket carry is one of the most meaningful parts of the experience. Participants carry a bucket to the ocean, fill it with water, and carry it back to Central Park.
Don't worry if you can't carry a full bucket the entire way. The goal isn't to prove how much weight you can carry. It's about experiencing a small glimpse of what millions of people experience every day.
Participants are encouraged to carry water in their buckets, but you can choose a comfortable amount. The bucket is meant to provide perspective, not create a physical challenge you can't safely manage.

Come comfortable! We recommend athletic or casual clothing, comfortable walking shoes, sunscreen, and a hat or sunglasses. Don't forget that you'll be carrying a bucket, so dress for movement and the Florida weather.
