Water Mission is my all time favorite charity. It was founded in 2001 by Molly and George Greene from Charleston, SC in response to the devastation they saw after a hurricane in Haiti. George, who owned an environmental engineering firm quickly realized they could do more than contribute bottled water, they could actually build and provide equipment that produces sustainable safe water solutions for people in developing countries, refugee camps and disaster areas. Disaster areas in 2024 included those affected by Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. In 2024, WM served more than 1 million people safe water. They have received the Charity Navigator's top rating, which only goes to 1% of all charities, for 19 consecutive years.
